Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin, born 1968 in Moscow, studied composition (Boguslaw Schaeffer) and piano (Dimo Dimov, Boyan Vodenitcharov, Alfons Kontarsky) at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the State Music Academy in Sofia. She has received numerous awards and composition commissions from the WDR, from the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, Wiener Konzerthaus, Aspekte Salzburg, from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, from the Ensemble PHACE, the Salzburg Provincial Government, from the ensemble xx. century and the Theodor-Körner Foundation.
